We are pleased to announce a hands-on training workshop designed to equip infectious disease researchers, particularly those with limited backgrounds in structural biology, with the skills needed to effectively learn and use structural resources and computational tools.
This beginner-level workshop is intended for researchers with at least approximately two years of experience in infectious diseases. Participants will be introduced to publicly available computational modeling and structural biology tools and will receive practical training in their use.
Over the course of 2½ days, attendees will gain foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with resources such as the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and computational structural biology tools, including ChimeraX, virtual reality applications, AlphaFold, and BindCraft, for the visualization and modeling of protein complexes.
Workshop Schedule
Day 1: Monday, July 20, 2026 (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM ET)
- Introduction: Foundations and Overview
- Session 1: Introduction to ChimeraX Protein Visualization and Virtual Reality
- Session 2: Protein Structure Prediction, Validation, and Analysis
Day 2: Tuesday, July 21, 2026 (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM ET)
- Session 3: Protein Complexes
